Major Upgrades Unveiled at Dean Rusk Park

NPU-T’s Dean Rusk Park recently received significant upgrades, emphasizing the power of local collaboration and green space. The Ashview Heights Community Association and city officials held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate these enhancements, made possible by a $300,000 Park Pride Atlanta grant. Key improvements include a new pavilion with a stone grill, outdoor fitness equipment, and a natural stone staircase to link the park’s upper and lower levels. District 4 Council member Jason Dozier described the park as a vital community resource, connecting families and highlighting shared accomplishments. The park’s "lake," a water retention pond, was previously designated Atlanta’s first “smart pond” in 2021 after a $1.9-million watershed project increased its storage and added rain gardens.

If you’ve ever wondered about it, here’s the bio of the park’s namesake.
