A Hammonds House Museum First

Through the work and vision of its Artistic Director, Halima Taha, and the entire team at Hammonds House Museum, as well as that of the countless advocates and stakeholders who have championed the museum’s mission from its inception in the late 1980’s, Hammonds House Museum was able to add another major achievement to its long legacy of ground-breaking work with its first ever permanent exhibition, The John Rhodes Sculpture Garden.

From the website:
Converging Realities: The John Rhoden Sculpture Garden and Hammonds House Museum Collection articulates the global thread of African descendant visual culture through a profound exploration of  the interconnectedness of African, African American, and Caribbean artistic expressions through the historical and cultural tapestry of the  Black Atlantic.

Last week, WABE’s Lois Reitzes spoke with Halima on “City Lights”, as they discussed how this major development for the museum came about, and some of the history behind the pieces.
