Critical Reflections on James Baldwin and "Free as they want to be"

  • Clark Atlanta University Art Museum 223 James P Brawley Drive Southwest Atlanta, GA, 30314 United States (map)

A panel discussion featuring graduate students from Clark Atlanta University and Emory University who will critically reflect on James Baldwin, “Free as they want to be,” and their own research. As we celebrate the 100th year since Baldwin’s birth, CAUAM wants to interrogate the significance of James Baldwin and his quote that inspired our current exhibition, “Free as they want to be:” Artists Committed to Memory. We invite you to engage with, learn from and celebrate the work of Baldwin, Dr. Deborah Willis, Dr. Cheryl Finley and participating graduate students.
